Internship Program

Program Overview

The MICCOM Communications Center Volunteer Internship Program is an unpaid internship opportunity that offers students an opportunity to work at select areas of the Department.  Interns will receive a basic understanding of emergency medical communications.

Interns will work with supervisors who manage the day-to-day operation of the MICCOM Communications Center. Interns have the ability to combine their academic study with job experience.  Work experience will vary depending on the assignment.

An internship at MICCOM provides a learning experience scheduled within a specific time frame. Our Interns will spend 10 weeks at the department on a full time schedule based on a work plan that correlates to their area of study.  Internships are offered during the summer, fall, and winter/spring semesters. Interns are scheduled to work between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

All internships will be conducted with an approved college or university by this Department.  An approved list of colleges is listed here.
